Hello Unity Friends and Family,
"Learning to Dance In the Rain"
I recently read somewhere, “Life isn’t about waiting for the rain to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” That was an ‘aha’ moment for me. Early on in my healing I was taught that I might not be able to get rid of all that I don’t like or that’s inconvenient. However, I could definitely have a great, joy-filled life even while my preferences aren’t being met. All I had to do is connect with an understanding of a loving God and then change my mind about my capabilities…then on rainy days, I could go ahead and dance in the rain…and not worry about getting wet.
Several years ago David and I were walking the streets of Rome when it began to rain. David looked at me and said, “You know you don’t get less wet when you scrunch your body and face down, don’t you?” Apparently I hadn’t known that until he pointed it out. Otherwise I wouldn’t have scrunched my face and body down defending myself from the attacking rain. I was able to laugh, but I still scrunch in the rain, just as I scrunch in other ways when I feel the onslaught of attack from the world.
Over the many years of healing (I’m not fully healed yet), I have been learning to look at things differently by way of going within and asking to be shown what is in front of me rather than telling myself a story about what I think I see. That way, when it rains, I can look at it with love and know that I am loved in the rain whether I am dancing or scrunching. I still have preferences, but they aren’t as important as the information I can get from Spirit about how everything has love at its foundation.
This week, however it rains in your life, see if you can create a beautiful dance step as you splash through it.
Grateful For Joy,
Rev. Shawn
